This project was the most meaningful for me. Using the practice of facadism, the purpose of the project was to reuse a factory, a warehouse, and a bank. These were all used in the industrialization period and were to be altered to exhibition halls to invigorate local cultural activities.
My main task was to remodel the Joseon Bank buillding(1F) into a Gunsan Industrial Science Technology Exhibition. This exhibition was composed of a Modern Science Museum with galleries for shipbuilding, transportation, communications, electricity and a Modern Industries Museum with galleries for the paper, milling, chemical, wood, and brewing industries.
I submitted the proposition with a hands-on exhibition concept centered on unique maritime culture of the port city. Although, I did not get the bid because the client selected a panoramic exhibition concept reproducing views of Gunsan from the industrialization period.
I reviewed the project and found the causes of failure. The causes were that the purpose of planning was not suitable and only internal factors were considered. However, this project created a bigger opportunity for me as opposed to simply frustration. It gave me a new viewpoint on reuse of space.

Modern Science Museum_Persprctive

The Modern Science Museum was designed as a place where you can experience modern science including a landing stage that uses natural forces and principles of pulleys, a HwaRyunSeon(steamship) and propeller, the principle of the clock and more.
Modern Industries Museum_Persprctive

The Modern Industries Museum is an exhibition with a Gunsan port of granary motif. At the time, hundreds of tons of rice had been stored in the granary for export to Japan. Each sector has a touch table and ceiling installation media system that provides the information about five kinds of activated industries in the modern era.
