Gyeonggi Children’s Museum is a children’s experience exhibition construction project in a three-story building approximately 96,254㎡. It consists of about 12 different educational courses. I designed 4 sections on the 3rd floor; A ‘Mini Theater’, an ‘Atelier for Artists’, ‘Our Neighborhood’, and a ‘Traditional Story House’. Unfortunately, this project was not accepted.

Plan

Expected Completion of 3rd Floor’s Bird Eye View

Expected Completion of All Exhibit Bird Eye View

Mini Theater

Children can be the hero of a musical or an opera in the Mini Theater. Mini Theater was designed like a real performance auditorium, including a waiting room, a changing room, a dressing room, and children can directly control lighting devices on the stage. They can also enjoy various performances such as puppetry, mime, and Nanta.
Atelier for Artists

Atelier for Artists is a creative space designed to promote children’s creativity and artistic expression. Professional instructors manage this sector at all times and anyone can freely join. Children and their families can exhibit their works with professional artists, and there is a workshop space where they can make creative artwork utilizing recycled products.
Our Neighborhood

Our Neighborhood exhibit is based on the locality. It is easy for children to understand the history and culture of their region. Children who live in Gyeonggido can get knowledge about the history of where they live; others can attain overall information about Gyeonggido. Children can gain a sense of pride and identity that they will one day be the future leaders of their city.
Traditional Story House

Traditional Story House is an exhibition based on the nation’s first Korean novel ‘The Story of Hong Kil Dong’. The audience can be the heroes of this story and develop self-directed learning and leadership. Also, they can learn the principles and process of creating the animation. In other way, this exhibition provides other world famous fairy-tales, oral narratives, and biographies.
