Problem Statement
Recently, social issues on the healthy lifestyle of children are growing due to dual-careers of parents, frequent eating out, the development of the game industry, and children’s television viewing habits. It is important for children to have interests in exercise and a healthy lifestyle because physical development for children is critical. We should provide the opportunities for social and emotional development through participation in a variety of physical activities.

Brainstorming & Design Study
I designed this playground using children’s paintings and a survey. The paintings were drawn by children aged 2 to 9 years with the topic “Future Playground I Want”, and the survey was conducted through one on one sessions.

Context Image
The UFO playground is comprised of several sections including a deformable play piece area, a social role playing area, sensory playing area, a retreat area and a simple physical development activity area. I produced this playground using the motif of a UFO image that combines functionality with complex activities. Also, I designed facilities such as slides, ladders and entrances with different curves and levels of difficulty.
